Gastric Botox

Gastric Botox

Gastric botox is an innovative, non-invasive outpatient procedure designed to treat obesity and improve the patient's overall health. Botulinum toxin is injected into the stomach wall to modulate appetite and prevent overeating.

What is Gastric Botox?

This is a non-surgical treatment that leverages the relaxing effect of botulinum toxin on the gastric muscles. By reducing motility and slowing stomach emptying, the patient feels full more quickly and better controls food portions.

How is the procedure performed?

After an in-depth consultation with the doctor, the treatment is performed under sedation with the aid of an endoscope. The doctor visualises the stomach, identifies the correct injection points and injects the botox. The procedure takes approximately 20 minutes and requires no hospitalisation: once finished, the patient can resume daily activities immediately.

Gastric Botox is suitable if you:

  • Are overweight and want to prepare for other weight-management procedures such as a balloon or sleeve.
  • Have already tried diet and exercise without lasting success.
  • Have difficulty controlling your appetite and feel full too late.
  • Have obesity-related conditions such as type-2 diabetes or cardiovascular disorders.

What to expect after treatment

  • The effect lasts on average 6–8 months and can be repeated if necessary.
  • Side effects are rare and generally mild (nausea, headache or gastric discomfort in the first few days).
  • To optimise results, it is advisable to follow a balanced nutritional plan and regular physical activity.
