"I can't lose weight, I do the impossible, I have 1 year in the gym, I follow different diets
and I have no results!" - this is the observation of many overweight people in the hope that
their lives return to a healthy normality.
For this reason many scientists have created the cause of this global problem
different methods for weight reduction.
Some of them are Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, Gastric Ring and the latest methodology of the moment
which is causing a big stir in Albania:
Gastric Balloon. But how do these procedures differ from each other
on the other?
Gastric Bypass is a surgery that helps you lose weight by reducing the stomach and a
reduction of the intestine, that is, its capacity and ability to retain the food we eat.
Gastric bypass is performed through 2 types of surgeries. With open surgery and
minimally invasive interventions.
The advantages of laparoscopy compared to open surgery are:
1. 1-2 night stay in hospital.
2. Less pain.
3. Small interference marks.
4. The duration of the operation is 2 to 4 hours.
After surgery, it is imperative to follow a strict fluid diet, with gradual return
of soft foods for up to 6 weeks.
Bathiatric surgery of the stomach or otherwise known as gastric ring is a quick procedure
and minimally invasive that reduces the size of the stomach to reduce food intake.
It involves placing a ring around the top of your stomach, which results in
a person who feels fuller with less food.
After surgery, it is imperative to follow a strict fluid diet, with gradual recovery
of soft foods for up to 6 weeks.
The above procedures require a minimum of 1 night in hospital, 6 weeks of strict regimen of
liquids, they are interventions, therefore they leave scars in the future, they are performed under general anesthesia
and the operation lasts approximately 2-4 hours. There is also the risk that the people who performed these
interventions will regain weight in the future.
GASTRIC BALLOON YES?
The gastric balloon is the most innovative procedure for weight reduction without the need for
intervention, without the need for hospital stay, without the need for general anesthesia and without
need for diet strike!
This procedure involves placing a soft balloon in the stomach, which is passed
to the stomach endoscopically, a procedure similar to that of a simple gastroscopy.
This procedure is performed in an outpatient setting, lasting no more than 20-30
minutes.
The implanted balloon will be kept by the patient for a period of 6 months. Because it takes up space
considerable amount of the stomach, the patient, during this period, significantly reduces the amount of
food he receives and at the end of the 6 month period the patient has a significant decline of approx
10-14 lbs.
After the 6 month period, the balloon is removed, a procedure which is performed in the room
outpatient with the help of a gastroscope.
The other important change is that if a person gains weight back, they can put the weight back on
Balloon, but if he intervenes and regains weight he will never be able to put on the Gastric Balloon! (it
let's say from the experience of patients who have performed gastric surgery in the past).
